4 Ways to Prioritize Your Mind-Body Connection Throughout Class
It is easy to get distracted during a group exercise class with its lively music, an instructor addressing students via headset microphone while sweat is dripping down your face. Try centering yourself with these four methods:
Leave Your Day at the Door
Breathe in and out a few times before arriving to class. This will help set you free from life’s distractions.
Arrive Early
This is your special time, so put your phone away before class begins. Arriving early will ease your mind, not feel rushed and enable you to set up any equipment needed for class ahead of time.
Lose Yourself in the Music
Try to match your energy and steps to the music. It’s a great tool to help you move at the appropriate pace. Also, energetic music can lift your spirits and get you through the last five minutes of the workout.
Remind Yourself Why You’re Here
In this day and age, we are always “too busy.” Take this time, away from your daily duties, to reflect on what you want to achieve emotionally and physically during class.
For more information about class engagement, consult a group exercise instructor.
