Group Exercise Instructor Highlight: Angie

Meet Your Group Exercise Instructor

Angie is a certified fitness instructor at The Health & Fitness Center at Washtenaw Community College. Currently, she teaches Zumba® group exercise classes on Tuesday evenings.

Angie is no stranger to fitness instruction. With over 15 years of experience, Angie has a special interest in helping people look and feel their best. She has taught a variety of classes, including Zumba, strength, step, kickboxing, HIIT and core classes.

Her certifications include AFAA Primary Group Exercise Instructor, ACE Personal Trainer, and ACSM Exercise Physiologist. Besides her fitness certifications, Angie has bachelor’s degrees in nursing and exercise science. She also works as an RN care manager with a special interest in pediatrics.

She loves to combine her education and experience in health and fitness along with nursing. Her background shows just how dedicated she is to helping others achieve total wellness. “I’m able to coach and support patients to make lifestyle changes, understand healthy habits, and learn to take control of their health,” she told us.

When she’s not working or exercising at the center, Angie loves water sports, being outdoors, gardening, and enjoying time with friends and family, preferably on a lake or ocean!

If you’d like to take a class with Angie, explore her Zumba classes on Tuesday evenings. Zumba combines Latin and international music and dance to create a dynamic calorie-burning form of workout for people of all fitness levels and age groups. These classes feature aerobic training that is a fusion of slow and fast rhythms to tone and sculpt your body.
